The Couple’s Story

Meghna Shankar & Alek Virani first met at Baylor University through a mutual friend. After months of not seeing each other, she needed a date to a sorority function, and their paths crossed again. “I honestly never expected to keep talking after that event, but we stayed in touch and started hanging out more,” Meghna told us.

Seven years later, after countless memories, they tied the knot surrounded by friends and family.

The Proposal

After finishing her first board exam in medical school, the couple headed to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for a much-needed break. What she didn’t know was that Alek had a surprise planned.

“On our second night there, we took a walk along the beach before dinner,” Meghna shared. “That’s where Alek got down on one knee. I just about blacked out—it was the easiest ‘Yes!’ of my life.”

Finding the Perfect Venue in Aspen Ranch

When it came to their venue, Aspen Ranch checked every box. The bride shared, We loved Aspen Ranch from our very first tour because of how open and adaptable the space was. Because we were having multiple events within a 2-day span, we knew we wanted everything to be in one place for ease to us, our families, and our guests.”

With on-site lodging, they were able to keep the party going all weekend long — something their out-of-town bridal party especially loved.

Why They Chose Top Shelf Cuisine & Cocktails

Meghna found Top Shelf Cuisine & Cocktails while doing research for a bartending company. She knew she wanted to provide the alcohol herself to keep things budget-friendly, yet still wanted the freedom to create fun cocktails for her guests.

“Top Shelf was literally perfect in that sense. Haley made it so easy to create several options for multiple cocktails and her "grocery list" she builds for you to purchase the alcohol yourself was amazing and so spot-on!”

We know planning drinks for a large event can be stressful, so we love simplifying the process by providing a list of ingredients and amounts for our couples.

Wedding Weekend Cocktails

The Virani’s weekend was full of intentional signature cocktails. On Saturday night, guests enjoyed a Mexican food dinner, paired with margaritas, palomas, and a virgin paloma. On Sunday, they had Indian food alongside an open bar featuring gin & tonics and old fashioneds. Meghan shared that these drinks were “an absolute hit!”

The Top Shelf Experience

The bride reflected on working with us: “Haley listened so carefully when I described how I wanted the drinks to complement our food. It helped deliver that vision so seamlessly!

With nearly 300 guests, service had to be smooth and efficient.

“Something I heard all night was how nice and efficient the bartenders were… There was never any hold up at the bar which is a huge effort to carry-out! We were so impressed with how smooth everything ran.”

Advice for Other Couples

“Choose someone who you feel like you could ask anything to! Haley was incredibly easy to communicate with. I truly felt like I could call or text her any time of day and she would answer my question within hours if not sooner. “

Looking Back

For this couple, our bar service elevated the entire experience. By working together to pair her ideas with our expertise, we were able to bring her vision to life! It was truly a weekend to remember, and we couldn’t be more honored to have been part of it.

Cheers to Alek and his bride, and to many more years of love, laughter, and celebrations ahead!
